About the
team
The Development Tools team in China is a newly established group with the aim to create and deliver key components of the Symbian OS
development environment. These tools are intended to be used by all
developers within the Symbian eco-system, both internally and externally.
The team supports Symbian OS development by providing solutions in the areas of:
• Debugging - Run and stop mode
• Tracing and Profiling - Trace
framework and host support, profiling and analysis
•
Testing -
Test execution and creation
• Eclipse-based IDE creation - Community contributions and internal tools support.
We are seeking the best people to join the team who can help us drive development forward and focus on improving the Symbian developer environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and the ability to develop their own skills.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the group you will be taking responsibility for development in all parts of the software lifecycle including requirement analysis, work breakdown, estimating, design, coding, unit and integration test coding, defect fixing, and supporting the project.
• Lead the team technically as part of a project
• Coach other engineers as part of a team and foster positive team spirit
• Own requirements capture, solution designs and resulting quality
• Contribute to implementation of product strategy and successful project deliveries
• Proactively build relationships with technical peers
• Take ownership of a subset of project tasks
• Estimate timescales for work, and commit to keep to them
• Specify, design, implement and test new software components
• Carry out all tasks to a high level of quality
• Maintain existing software components
• Adhere to Symbian development procedures and practices
• Provide regular status updates to Project Manager/Technical Team Leader
• Contribute to process improvement in the development team
• Work closely with the Test team

Analysis and Debugging
Apply static and dynamic techniques to ensure that requirements are met.
Essential
Qualifications：
Educated to Degree level, or equivalent, in an Engineering related discipline, e.g. Computer Science or Electronics
Experience
• Proven experience of professional software development gained in a Telecom or Engineering related industry.
• Demonstrable experience of working with mature processes across all stages of the
Software Development Lifecycle as part of product code development requiring minimal supervision and support.
• Had hands-on responsibility for software development for product code working from requirements and functional documentation.
Skills
• Knowledge of C/C++
• Knowledge of Object-orientated design techniques and UML design
• Experience of embedded environments such as Symbian OS /
Linux /
Windows Mobile
• Understanding of the V-Model
• Good written and verbal command of the English language
